中國國家主席習近平在訪英之行時再度重申，中國絕對會避免硬著陸的情況發生。不過他也坦承，當前中國經濟的確面臨向下壓力。
過去幾個月來，中國官方從上到下一再出面安撫全球市場恐慌情緒，強調在先前人民幣驟貶和中國股市暴跌後，當今中國經濟情勢已在官方的掌控之下，無須過度擔心。但近來最新公布的中國第三季 GDP 年增率首度破七，僅有 6.9%，說明中國經濟成長仍舊疲弱。
本周習近平訪英，為英國帶來 300 億英鎊的大單，英國皇室更出動三代重多成員以最高禮遇接待。《路透社》報導，習近平更在此行訪問中公開表示，當前中國已經入一種「新常態」，經過十年的高速成長後，目前中國已有足夠的能力處理當前經濟減速的情況。
習近平強調：「中國經濟將維持強勁態勢，不會有硬著陸情況發生」。並強調當前中國必須解決發展中不平、不協調與不可持續的問題，好讓接下來能夠走的更遠。這也意指中國將強化市場化改革的承諾，習近平也重申：「中國打開的大門不會關閉」
事實上，中國經濟可能不如外界想的悲觀，端看你從甚麼角度評估。《華爾街日報》報導，中國官方統計今年前九個月民眾在電影票的消費以超過 330 億人民幣，較去年同期成長了近五成，顯示民間的消費實力正急遽成長。
有投資人更認為，服務業在中國的佔比可能比官方數據來的多，原因在於許多小生意，例如髮廊或餐館等，往往不會繳稅，加上服務相關的業務正不斷成長，因此官方很難全部精準掌握。
